Today’s post is brought to you by my credit card… which is weeping at the burden of all these beautiful makeup I bought.
Isn’t this gorgeous? I can’t help myself. The holiday season brings out that manic shopper in me who must have every single holiday palette to ever grace Sephora’s page, and more. Last year, I was quite disciplined, buying only 1 palette from Too Faced. This year, it’s like my credit card had diarrhea and went on its own spending spree until it got maxed. Wtf.
You can’t see it because of all the fancy schmancy photo editing, but the palette comes with basically 2 sets: a day set with the first 3 shadows all neutral, warm nudie blush, and red gloss, and the night set with the next 3 shadows having some candy pink and rich navy, a pink blush and a pink gloss. There are 2 more pages in this booklet styled palette, which shows how the shadows can be done.
I haven’t used this much – but probably with a collection like mine, it’s impossible to use any of my makeup much.
I was so disappointed with this. I’ve swatched this numerous times at the local Sephora and had convinced myself that this is awesome and I must have it. I actually waited a good 8 months from the time it came out to when I finally bought it.
As you can see even with the overly dramatic lighting, the colors are gorgeous! They’re shimmery and all golds and browns and champagnes, and all my kinda colors. The bad part is those 2 large shimmery shadows on the left aren’t shimmery but more glittery and the fallout I get from those two is just awful! I’ve never had that problem with Too Faced shadows before, so I was really disappointed with this, especially after I was so psyched in buying it!
Maybe it’s a little premature for me to say that since I’ve only used each blush a grand total of one time. My friend, Trisha, got me on to trying this out. I’ve been wanted to try Tarte since I heard of Sephora opening its doors here in Singapore. Sadly, the brand never made it to our local Sephora, so Trish and I had to order this online like third-world country schmucks with too much money.
The foursome set has a champagne shimmer shade, a pink shade, a peach shade, and a nude shade. All of them are pressed powder blushes, all are shimmery. The champagne shade is a beautiful highlighter – I tried it on a look I did today and it was pretty and subtle and even if I had a heavy hand swiping my brush onto the pan, it just glided on beautifully with just the right amount of sheen. The pink and peach blushes are both gorgeous. Wish they were matte though coz I have a lot of shimmery blushes already. I’m on the fence with the nude shade coz it looks way too much like my skin tone. I might work with this better if I had a cream blush to go with it, and I think I’m gonna have just the thing for this, when my next Sephora package arrives.
I’ve got more to show, but this post is now way too long to hold even my interest, and I love makeup porn. -_-;;
Tomorrow, I’m going to try to do a home video setup. I hope I don’t bungle things up. I think I might be needing an extra lamp just to get the lighting right in my room. We’ll see. I want to try doing makeup reviews again, considering I’ve got so much crap to show.
For now though, I need to get some sleep. When I was doing my FOTD today, I noticed how bad my eye bags have become, so I think I really need to sleep early to fix that. ^_^
